First Annual Meeting organized as a two-day gathering in Namur, Belgium.
We are pleased to announce that in the period from 9th-13th December 2024, one partner from the ARTEMIS Consortium, Institute of Physics Belgrade (IPB) is organizing a Workshop on Metamaterials, named “Metamaterials: From Quantum and Nano Perspective“, as an extension of the research described in the ARTEMIS project. Our guests and experts from Germany, Belgium, and Italy, in addition to discussions with members of the ARTEMIS project team and colleagues from the Faculty of Physics and the Institute of Physics, University of Belgrade, will hold lectures on Nonlinear Optics, Quantum Mechanics, and Biophotonics for all interested colleagues.
Please visit our Workshop Announcement poster for additional information about the venue and the lectures.
We are pleased to announce that ARTEMIS consortium partners, specifically Maria Antonietta Ferrara (CNR), Flavia Artizzu (UPO), and Luca Pilia (UNICA), are actively involved in organizing the upcoming Ph.D. Summer School, “Quantum Optics and Quantum Materials“. This intensive program will be held in Lecce (Italy) on May 26-30, 2025 as part of our portfolio activities and is organized in collaboration with three other Pathfinder projects: IQARO, FERROMON, and Q-ONE.
This Summer School offers a unique opportunity for Ph.D. students to explore advanced topics in quantum optics and quantum materials, with sessions led by leading experts in the field.
For additional details, please visit the official Summer School website: Ph.D. Summer School 2025.
We look forward to welcoming participants to Lecce for an engaging and insightful program!
UNamur, as host of the First Annual Meeting, organized a two-day gathering in Namur (Belgium) from October 10-11, 2024, focused on reviewing ARTEMIS project activities carried out during the first year. The meeting covered progress updates across all seven work packages, providing partners with a comprehensive view of project advancements and laying the groundwork for preparing reports required for the first reporting period and the upcoming review meeting scheduled for the end of 2024.
The consortium engaged in in-depth discussions on each WP’s objectives and anticipated outcomes, identifying optimal tools and strategies to enhance project impact. This led to concrete agreements on collaborative actions essential for reaching project milestones. The sessions promoted meaningful exchanges, allowing participants to address emerging challenges, propose new ideas, and fine-tune the project’s approach. By the end of the meeting, participants reached clear, shared expectations on the next phases of work, with a specific focus on tasks planned for the coming 18 months, corresponding to the next reporting period.
Similar to the kick-off meeting in Naples last year, consortium members further strengthened their connections through social activities such as lunches, dinners, and a city tour. After a full year of collaboration, the consortium has developed into a cohesive and cooperative team, reinforcing its foundation for achieving the ARTEMIS program’s goals.
ISASI-CNR, as ARTEMIS’ Coordinator, organized a two-day meeting in Napoli (Italy) to officially launch the project. It included several scientific activities and also management sessions that allowed the partners to make agreements for the best development of the project.
The Consortium discussed the goals and projected results of the various work packages. Tools and actions to maximize the impact were analyzed, leading to an agreement on how to work in partnership to achieve the goals of the program. This allowed the transfer of knowledge among the participants and the discussion of new problems, ideas, and approaches in the context of the project. In these two days’ basic issues have been clarified and also all the participants worked towards a shared understanding of each activity that will be implemented, in particular during the next 12-18 months.
In addition, there was plenty of networking time for the Consortium members during coffee breaks, lunches, social dinners, and a guided tour. This strengthened the collaboration among the participants. The days spent on the Kickoff meeting have been a precious investment in the effectiveness of the partnership and the implementation of the program.
